For over two decades, school districts across the country have recognized NASET’s rigorous board certifications for professional development credit, salary advancement, and career progression. Our educators have successfully used NASET training to earn raises, advance on salary schedules, and achieve leadership positions in special education.
NASET has earned state-level CE approval in 7 states, confirmed district-level acceptance in 14 states, and is recognized by thousands of districts nationwide. Find your state below to see exactly how NASET certifications count toward your license renewal.

Official Approval Numbers - Use These When Requesting District Approval
Full State-Level CE Approval - 7 States
New York
CTLE ApprovedNASET is an approved NYS CTLE provider as of April 3, 2026. All NASET certifications, courses, and webinars count for professional development in New York.
Pennsylvania
Act 48 ApprovedNASET is an Act 48 approved provider as of February 3, 2026. All certifications completed from that date forward count for PA professional development credit.
Texas
TEA-CPE ApprovedNASET is a TEA-CPE approved provider as of February 20, 2026. All certifications completed from that date forward count for Texas professional development credit.
Illinois
IL Approved - ROE #45NASET is an approved professional development provider through ROE #45 as of March 26, 2026. Submit certificates of completion directly to mmccormick@roe45.net.
Washington
Clock Hours - ESD 112NASET is an approved clock hour provider through ESD 112 as of February 26, 2026. Hours recorded on an official pdEnroller transcript. A $3 per clock hour fee applies. Partial completion counts.
Nevada
NDE ApprovedNASET is a Nevada Department of Education approved provider as of March 30, 2026. All NASET certifications, courses, and webinars count for professional development credit in Nevada.
Michigan
SCECH Approved - NEWAs of April 30, 2026, NASET is an approved Michigan SCECH provider through a sponsorship with the Michigan Music Education Association (MMEA). All NASET certifications, courses, and webinars can be used to earn professional development hours. A $3.72 per clock hour fee applies through MMEA for processing.
District-Level Acceptance Confirmed - 14 States
Ohio
LPDC ApprovalConfirmed March 27, 2026. Ohio approvals occur at the district level through each school's Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC). Submit NASET's Act 48-vetted syllabus to your LPDC for pre-approval.
Florida
District Inservice CreditConfirmed March 26, 2026. Florida authorizes professional development at the district level. Many Florida districts accept specialized training from out-of-state approved providers.
Kansas
PDC ApprovalConfirmed March 26, 2026. Kansas Professional Development Councils award points at the district level. Submit NASET course info aligned with Kansas teaching standards to your district PDC.
North Carolina
LEA ApprovalConfirmed March 19, 2026. North Carolina districts handle their own professional development needs. Educators not employed by a district often have courses automatically approved.
West Virginia
County-Level ApprovalConfirmed February 5, 2026. West Virginia professional development is handled at the county level. NASET is an approved vendor for Kanawha County Schools.
Alabama
LEA-Level ConfirmedConfirmed April 7, 2026. Alabama approval occurs at the LEA level. Educators submit documentation of course completion to their LEA as part of their Professional Learning Plan.
South Carolina
District Pre-ApprovalConfirmed March 27, 2026. Third-party providers can obtain district pre-approval in South Carolina. Contact your district renewal coordinator or submit individually to your employing renewal coordinator.
Oregon
ESD District ApprovalOregon educators may use NASET courses with approval from their local school district or educational service district (ESD). PDUs are accepted when they align with the educator's professional goals.
Missouri
District PDC ApprovalMissouri accepts hours from out-of-state approved providers and transfers them to the closest in-state equivalent. Submit NASET course information to your district Professional Development Committee.
Utah
LEA Approval ConfirmedUtah educators may use NASET courses with approval from their local education agency for professional development credit toward license point requirements.
Arizona
District Pre-ApprovalArizona does not require state approval for professional development providers. Educators submit certificates of completion to their district or the Arizona Department of Education for the renewal requirement.
Tennessee
LEA Approval ConfirmedNASET's PA state approval status means Tennessee educators are eligible to earn Professional Development Points. Submit course information and approval numbers to your local education agency.
Minnesota
District PD CommitteeMinnesota educators may use NASET courses with approval from their local school district through the district's professional development committee. NASET content fulfills the requirement for "Positive Behavioral Intervention Strategies."
Idaho
District Inservice ApprovalIdaho educators can count NASET hours as "In-service" credits with prior approval from their local school district. Idaho does not require state-level approval for professional development providers.

Superintendent ApprovalCredits are accepted for renewal when relevant to your endorsement area. NASET's PA and TX-vetted syllabus serves as proof of quality for district review.
Hawaii
Complex Area ApprovalHawaii does not have a formal state-level PD provider approval system. Submit NASET course information to your complex area or school administration for approval.
Mississippi
District LevelMississippi does not require state-level approval. CEUs can be earned through NASET certifications for Class A or AA license renewals. Submit to your school district.
Montana
District LevelMontana does not require state-level approval for PD providers. Submit NASET courses to your school district or directly to the Office of Public Instruction for credit approval.
New Mexico
District LevelNew Mexico does not require formal state approval for all PD providers. Submit NASET courses to your local school district or Public Education Department.
California
District LevelProfessional development is handled at the local district level. NASET is actively pursuing California CTC approval. Many districts accept NASET courses for salary advancement and local PD credit.
Vermont
District LevelVermont does not require state-level approval. Submit NASET courses to your supervisory union or the Vermont Agency of Education showing alignment with Vermont teaching standards.

MSDE Application SubmittedNASET has submitted a state approval application to MSDE. Maryland educators may currently use NASET courses with local school system approval for Professional Development Points. Maryland explicitly allows nonprofit and for-profit providers to offer PD for micro-credentials.
Massachusetts
DESE Application In ProgressNASET is pursuing Massachusetts DESE approval. Educators may use NASET courses with local district approval for Professional Development Points. Some educators have historically achieved salary and title increases with NASET certifications.
Arkansas
PDSaMS Application In ProgressNASET is pursuing Arkansas state approval through PDSaMS. Professional development hours from out-of-state approved providers are generally accepted when they align with the educator's professional growth plan.

New Jersey
Pursuing NJ state approval. NJ accepts hours from providers approved in NASDTEC states like PA.
North Dakota
North Dakota requires university credit for all license renewal. NASET is exploring university partnerships. Contact us about our credit conversion program.
Oklahoma
Pursuing OSDE approval. Certifications count toward 75-point PD requirement with district approval.
Rhode Island
Pursuing RIDE approval. Submit course info and approval numbers to your LEA.
South Dakota
Pursuing state approval. Submit course info to your district PD coordinator.
Virginia
Pursuing state approval. NASET is an approved provider under "Option 8" for your 180 PTPs. Submit to your division PD office.
Washington D.C.
Local school administrators have authority to accept NASET hours. NASET is exploring D.C.-area university partnerships.
Wisconsin
Wisconsin has eliminated CE requirements for many licenses but districts require PD for salary advancement. Contact your district with NASET approval numbers.
Wyoming
Wyoming does not require state-level approval. Submit NASET courses to your school district for credit approval.

University Partnership Option: For states that primarily accept university credit, NASET partners with accredited universities to offer credit conversion options. Contact us at careercenter@naset.org to learn about converting your NASET certification hours into university semester credit accepted in your state.
District Approval Strategy: Even in states without NASET state-level approval, many districts accept professional development from out-of-state approved providers, especially in specialized areas like special education.
