No. USD credit is 100% optional. Your NASET certification is earned by completing the NASET course requirements, regardless of whether you add USD credit. Many NASET members never add USD credit and get full value from their NASET credential alone.

No. This is Graduate-Level Extension Credit issued through the University of San Diego's Division of Professional & Continuing Education. It is not a graduate degree program, and University of San Diego Graduate-Level Extension Credit is not typically transferable toward a degree. If you are interested in pursuing a graduate degree at the University of San Diego, visit their degree programs website directly.

Graduate-Level Extension Credits (GLEC) may be eligible for transfer toward advanced degree programs (such as MA, EdD, or PhD) depending on the receiving institution. Acceptance is determined by each university, and participants are responsible for confirming transfer eligibility. These credits do not apply toward degree programs at the University of San Diego.

Yes. USD allows retroactive enrollment for eligible NASET courses completed as far back as 2021. As long as we have documentation confirming your successful completion, you can purchase USD units for past NASET coursework. Email careercenter@naset.org with your name and the certification or course you completed, and we'll help you confirm eligibility and next steps.

USD recommends purchasing your units in the same calendar year you complete your NASET course, based on the completion date on your certificate. If you complete a course in 2026 but aren't ready to purchase units until 2027, late enrollment may still be approved on a case-by-case basis. $79 per unit, paid directly to USD. You choose how many units to claim based on the hours you completed, up to the maximum unit range for each NASET course. The minimum is 1 unit ($79) for most products and 0.5 unit ($39.50) for the NASET Core Bundle.

USD handles all registration and payment directly. After completing your NASET course, you forward your NASET completion certificate to pce-cv@sandiego.edu. USD will send you a registration link with instructions for paying for and enrolling in the units. NASET does not collect, process, or handle the USD fee.

Yes. There is no cap on how many units you can earn through the NASET + USD partnership. If you complete multiple eligible NASET courses (for example, BCSE plus BCCM plus BCISE), you can purchase USD units for each one and stack them on a single official USD transcript.

USD typically issues transcripts within 4-6 weeks after your enrollment is confirmed. USD prints transcripts twice a week (Tuesday and Friday) to minimize wait times.

NASET certifications and courses are non-refundable upon purchase under any circumstance. However USD does have a refund policy for the graduate level extension credit purchase done through their platform. USD's refund policy allows a full refund within 3 days of the course start date (your USD registration date), minus a 10% or $50 processing fee, whichever is higher. After the 3-day window, USD courses are non-refundable. Confirm your district's acceptance of USD credit before enrolling to avoid this situation.

NASET owns, develops, and teaches all course content. USD's role is solely validating that the coursework meets their curricular standards and issuing the Graduate-Level Extension Credit transcript. This program is independently created by NASET.
