Dr. Michael Ashley Stein
Co-Founder & Executive Director, Harvard Law School Project on Disability | Visiting Professor, Harvard Law School
Dr. Stein is one of the most influential disability rights scholars in the world. A Visiting Professor at Harvard Law School since 2005, he participated in drafting the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and has helped shape disability law in the United States and internationally. He is the author of 288 academic publications and 11 books, and his honors include the Morton E. Ruderman Prize, the Henry Viscardi Achievement Award, and the ABA Paul G. Hearne Award. He earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he became the first known person with a disability to serve on the Harvard Law Review, and his Ph.D. from Cambridge University. He was appointed by President Obama to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council and also teaches at the Harvard Kennedy School.
